APPEAL - Rewiring and New Lighting for St Margaret's Church

An electrical inspection has revealed the necessity for the church to be rewired. We will have to replace the current fluorescent strip lighting, and we would like to do so with fittings more in keeping with the historic interior of our  Grade II* listed building. A source of suitable pendant lights has been found at a British firm (greatbritishlighting.co.uk).
Lights like these have been used in the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst Chapel. We would need 6 of these in the nave . In addition, our aim is to use spotlights for other areas with the whole system to be controlled by wireless technology and main lights to be dimmable. All lights will be energy efficient.

Naturally, a project such as this is costly. The total cost is estimated at £37000. We already have some generous bequests  and gifts, but that still leaves a shortfall of £20,000 to be funded.  Some potential sources of funding have been identified and we will be making applications to these trusts but all of these trusts receive numerous applications so we need to raise as much as possible ourselves.

If you feel able to help with a donation, however small, we would be very grateful. Donations can be made (cheques payable to St Margaret’s PCC) to our Treasurer, Roger Hopkins at 42 School Road, Drayton, or via the Churchwardens. Please indicate whether you are a UK taxpayer able to gift-aid your donation - it makes a big difference. If you would like more information about the project please contact the Rector, David Wells, tel 01603 868749, email rector@draytonparish.org.uk
